MENTAL HEALTH, WELLNESS & SELF-CARE
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Learn from and with a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and a Clinical Psychologist from Jerusalem Counseling who have worked and consulted with numerous Birthright Israel Trip Organizers who will introduce you to common mental health issues which you may encounter when staffing trips. Learn how to identify signs of challenging behavior and get introduced to protocols for dealing with participants who manifest these issues when leading trips. You'll also have the opportunity to work through case studies with facilitators and your madrichim peers.
Time will also be dedicated to focusing on your own well-being and mental health when staffing. Try out a self-care elective in yoga, meditation, or Jewish inspiration, as we consider the following questions:
How do we practice self-care during the trips? What are the pitfalls? Where are our strengths? How do we pace ourselves? Do staff have dip days? Where does empathy and compassion for ourselves and others come into play?
